Mesa Grande Science Fair 1st Grade
San Bernardino County High Desert A concert was held at Oak Hills High School on Feb. 11. Performing was the San Bernardino County High Desert Honor Band. Mesa Grande is proud to have three participants in the Honor Band: Keelei Kirby and Jenna Jensen on flute. Heather Warren on alto saxaphone. Congratulations on the fine performance! Kindergarten Registration Mesa Grande's Kindergarten Registration will be held Wednesday, March 14, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. If you are unable to attend, please contact our office to make an appointment to register your Kindergarten student. Kindergarten enrollment packets for the upcoming 2012 - 2013 school year will be available beginning Tuesday, February 14, in our office. To register your child, you must bring your child's: 1. Complete and up to date immunization (shot) record to include:
2. Birth Certificate 3. Physical and dental forms completed by the doctor NO SOONER than Feb. 9th 4. Proof of Residency - such as a utility bill. Kindergarten Registration dates as outlined in SB 1381 have been changed and earlier kindergarten start dates will be phased in over a three year period beginning with the 2012 - 2013 school year. Lefty Turner (the Auto Club Speedway mascot) has issued a challenge to Mesa Grande with unique incentives to encourage our Mesa Grande students to read more books! In addition, each child will receive a FREE membership card to Lefty's Kids Club which provides great benefits such as free admission to Friday and Saturday NASCAR and INDYCAR events as well as the Red, White, & Cruise 4th of July celebration. All students completing the requirements will receive: A Certificate of Completion One (1) complimentary General Admission Ticket for the student's parent or guardian to NASCAR Qualifying on Friday, March 23, 2012 or the Royal Purple 300 Saturday, March 24, 2012. Children 12 and under are free with a Lefty’s Kids Club membership. One (1) complimentary membership to Lefty’s Kids Club. Winners of Lefty's Reading Challenge will receive: $5000 check to the school with the largest number of students completing Lefty's Reading Challenge $5000 check to the school with the highest percentage of students completing Lefty's Reading Challenge School-wide pizza party for the two (2) winning schools Permission slips and Reading Logs will be provided by ACS and are required from each participating student. Hesperia Recreation and Park District and the Hesperia Unified School District are proud to offer the After School Activities Program (A.S.A.P.) at Mesa Grande Elementary School. This program is offered to first through sixth graders. The fee is $15.00 a week, per child. If your child resides outside the Hesperia city limits, a District nonresident fee will be applied. The nonresident fee is $22.00 a week, per child. Enrollment is limited. Preregistration is required and children must be currently enrolled at Mesa Grande. Please stop by our office for registration information or call the Hesperia Recreation and Park District at 244-5488. Mesa Grande is pleased to announce that we are able to offer library use to parents of our Mesa Grande students. If you are interested in being assigned a library account feel free to either come into the library (after signing in at the office) Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:45 a.m. 8:20 a.m., or email Brenda.Sewell@Hesperiausd.org. Mesa Grande will be participating in Read to Succeed, a free educational program sponsored by Six Flags to inspire kids in grades K through 6 to engage in recreational reading. Students who complete six hours of recreational, non-school-related reading are eligible to earn a free admission ticket to a participating Six Flags theme park.
Mesa Grande has been awarded approximately $12,000 of Play Matta safety surface for our playgrounds.
Play Matta is a new generation playground safety surface installed in playgrounds worldwide. With attractive modular tiles over impact absorbing shock pads, it is the most durable system on the market and the surest way of achieving ongoing safety standards compliance.
HUSD Maintenance worked hard over the summer to get this wonderful safety system installed under the swing sets and the monkey bars.
